Rachel Harmeyer is a visual artist and art historian who explores a wide variety of traditions and techniques in her creative work, from painting and drawing to collage, bricolage, and surface embroidery. Her work is frequently inspired by anatomical, medical, and natural history illustration, as well as relics of the past. She lives in the New Orleans area with her family and many cats and reptiles.

Rachel earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MA from the University of Houston in Art History, and her PhD in Art History from Rice University.
Her art history research focuses on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century art and material culture. She currently teaches as an Assistant Professor of Art History in the Visual Art + Design department at Southeastern Louisiana University.
