Rachel Harmeyer is a visual artist and art historian who explores a wide variety of traditions and techniques in her creative work, from painting and drawing to collage, bricolage, and surface embroidery. Her work is frequently inspired by anatomical, medical, and natural history illustration, as well as relics of the past. She lives in the New Orleans area with her family and many cats and reptiles.
Rachel received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MA from the University of Houston in Art History, and is currently a PhD Candidate in Art History at Rice University where she studies the visual and material culture of the 18th and 19th centuries.
